More Than Sports: The Vision Behind Empower Sports Network

When people first hear the name Empower Sports Network, they often think about athletics. They think about competitions, practices, medals, and teams. Athletics is a major part of who we are, but Empower Sports Network was never created to be just another sports program.

It was created to build something bigger.

Empower Sports Network was founded with the belief that sports can change lives. Athletics teaches discipline, confidence, leadership, communication, teamwork, and resilience. As a former athlete, I experienced firsthand how sports can shape a person both physically and mentally. The lessons learned through athletics do not stay on the field, in the gym, or on the track — they carry over into everyday life.

That belief became the foundation of Empower Sports Network.

Our journey started with athletics, beginning with Powerlifting and later expanding into Track & Field. As the organization continues to grow, we are now adding opportunities like Bowling and other community-based programs. But while athletics gave us our foundation, the vision quickly became much bigger than competition.

I did not want to create a program where people simply show up for practice and go home. I wanted to create a community. I wanted to create opportunities. Most importantly, I wanted to create a program where members could have ownership and feel like they are truly part of building something meaningful.

That is what makes Empower Sports Network different.

At Empower Sports Network, our members are not viewed as just participants. They are leaders, creators, athletes, workers, teammates, and role models. We believe every member has talents, interests, and abilities that deserve to be developed and showcased.

That is why we focus heavily on real-world opportunities and member-driven experiences.

Some members are developing their own podcasts and media shows. Others are helping create social media content, interview guests, or work on promoting projects that matter to them personally. Through these experiences, members are learning communication, leadership, teamwork, creativity, and responsibility in ways that go far beyond a traditional program setting.

Thanks to the support of Blackwell Studio, our members have the opportunity to work inside a professional recording studio environment. For many of our members, this is more than simply recording content — it is about building confidence, learning skills, finding their voice, and creating opportunities that many people never expected them to have.

One of the most important parts of Empower Sports Network is the Member Leadership Board.

The Member Leadership Board was created to ensure our members have a real voice within the organization. Members are involved in discussions about programming, events, athletics, media projects, and the future direction of Empower Sports Network. This is not something done simply for appearance — it is part of our core mission.

We believe leadership should be taught through experience.

The Member Leadership Board gives individuals the opportunity to learn responsibility, communication, teamwork, decision-making, and accountability while helping shape the culture of the organization. It creates an environment where members are empowered not only to participate, but also to lead.

Empower Sports Network is also deeply committed to building connections outside of the organization itself.

We want our members to be active in the community, not separated from it. Through volunteering, partnerships with local businesses, media projects, athletic events, and community involvement, we are building relationships that allow our members to be seen for their abilities, talents, and contributions.

This organization is about changing perceptions.
