Nick Alessi: A Student-Athlete Using His Heart to Help Empower Adaptive Athletes

That’s exactly who Nick Alessi is.

Nick is a student at Ocean Township High School and a dedicated multi-sport athlete who competes in football and track & field. But beyond athletics, Nick represents something even bigger: the character, compassion, and leadership that Empower Sports Network is built on.

A Helper You Can Count On

Running a nonprofit organization takes an incredible amount of time, energy, and effort behind the scenes. There are long days, constant planning, and always something that needs to get done. So when I get a random text from someone asking, “How can I help?” it’s not just appreciated — it’s a lifesaver.

That’s Nick.

Nick is the type of person who looks for ways to support the mission. He doesn’t wait to be asked. He steps up. He shows up. And he makes a difference the moment he walks through the door.

Someone Special From the Start

I’ve had the privilege of working with Nick for years — starting back when he was in 8th grade, training with me in the weight room. From early on, I could tell there was something different about him.

Watching the way Nick interacted with my brother and his friends, it was clear he had a natural ability to connect with others, make people feel comfortable, and treat everyone with genuine respect.

That same attitude is exactly what Nick brings to Empower Sports Network today.

Not “Clients” — Teammates and Friends

One of the most meaningful parts of Empower Sports Network is our Athlete Ambassador Program. Our ambassadors are more than supporters — they are leaders in the community and a major part of how we grow awareness and build momentum for our mission.

Nick is a perfect example of what we look for in an ambassador.

What makes Nick stand out isn’t just his athletic ability — it’s his mindset. He doesn’t treat our athletes like “clients.” He treats them like teammates. Like friends. Like people who belong.
