At Empower Sports Network, we believe that real change starts with connection—people taking the time to listen, understand, and support one another. That belief was reinforced during our recent visit with Mayor Anthony Talerico Jr. of Eatontown.
From the moment we sat down, it was clear that this was more than just a meeting. Mayor Talerico created an environment where our members felt comfortable sharing their stories, their goals, and their experiences. He didn’t just hear them—he listened.
For many of our athletes and members, opportunities like this are incredibly meaningful. Sitting across from a local leader, being treated with respect, and having their voices valued helps build confidence in ways that extend far beyond that moment. These are the types of experiences that empower individuals to grow—not just in athletics, but in life.
What stood out most was Mayor Talerico’s genuine interest in what we are building. Empower Sports Network is centered around creating opportunities for individuals with special needs through athletics, fitness, leadership, and real-world experiences. Having leaders in the community who take the time to understand and support that mission makes a lasting difference.
Strong communities are built when leaders are present, engaged, and willing to connect with the people they serve. Our visit was a reminder of how important that kind of leadership is—and how impactful it can be.
We are grateful for Mayor Talerico’s time, his openness, and his willingness to engage with our members in a meaningful way. We look forward to continuing to build this relationship and creating more opportunities together within the community.
